Could The Isuzu D-Max Be The Ideal Pick-Up?
When you are competing against market sector heavyweights such as the Ford Ranger and the Toyota Hilux, it can be a demoralising prospect to try and keep apace, but with the third generation Isuzu D-Max, the gap has been closed significantly using some canny tricks and some industry-leading excellence.
In the pick-up sector you could argue that looks aren’t too important. After all, we’re talking about a rough and tough vehicle being used in some of the harshest environments. Previously it could be argued that the D-Max lacked polish and that restricted its appeal to the widest spectrum of the pick-up market. It seems the design team at Isuzu have identified that and have refined the chassis, cabin and exterior styling on this new model to deliver a sassier product which also brings far better on and off-road quality too.
What are the details?
So we have a 1.9 litre four cylinder diesel engine, and while the non-European markets can enjoy a 3.0 litre powertrain, there is nothing lacking about this UK market D-Max, which is available with either a manual or an automatic transmission. A six-speed range allows for a much better off-road experience, and you can easily shift from two-wheel drive to four-wheel drive with a much smoother transition.
How about build design?
This third generation model has benefited from a collaboration with Mazda, which has delivered some smart details and means this RG series has been worth the wait. A tougher chassis and extensive underbody protection makes this a much better off-road vehicle, while even water fording is more adaptable with a maximum 800mm depth achievable. On the road you have considerable noise and vibration reduction and speed-sensitive power steering makes the manoeuvrability of such a large vehicle so much easier.
Overall, the exterior styling has evolved nicely, with sharper contours, an imposing front grille and distinctive U-shaped headlights which help to give the D-Max some identity on and off the road. An 80kg lighter chassis is also a great drivability benefit, thanks to an aluminium prop shaft and higher tensile steel plates in the body construction. A higher quality cabin is another major attraction for the new D-Max, with a stylish, layered dashboard and a central touchscreen infotainment system, which also has voice control.
Industry-leading safety levels
The innovative ADAS safety package comes as standard on all models, and takes the pick-up driving experience to another level. You can enjoy the benefits of autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, intelligent speed limiter and lane departure warnings and prevention. The D-Max is also the only pick-up in the UK which can offer a rear radar as standard.
Great pick-up leading deals from Pink Car Leasing
With four trim levels and a range of optional extras, the new D-Max offers something for every budget, but overall, this is a much more affordable alternative to the sector competitors. The class-leading safety levels have set a new standard for the pick-up sector, but a higher quality product in general has brought a new credible option alongside the sector stalwarts. In many ways the D-Max undercuts its rivals and with a range of Isuzu D-Max lease deal options from Pink Car Leasing, as well quick delivery, when we ask what is the ideal pick-up? We now have a serious contender on our hands. If you are thinking about a new pick-up, get in touch with Pink Car Leasing today and we can find the best Isuzu pick-up lease deals for you.
